How to tie a tie

Whether you are getting ready for a formal event, a job interview, or a regular day at the office, learning how to tie your own tie is a skill that will come in handy. All you need is your tie and a mirror. Master a simple and versatile four-in-hand knot with the following steps. Let’s go!

1. Wearing your shirt, put the tie around your neck. The wide end of the tie should be on your right side and the thinner one on your left. Your collar should be standing up.

2. Cross the wide end over the narrow one, bringing it to the left side of your body and forming an X shape.

3. Wrap the wide end under the narrow end of your tie and bring it to your right side.

4. Wrap the wide end over the narrow end, bringing the wide end to your left side.
