Nursing clothing for style and comfort
After your baby's born, comfortable nursing clothing is a priority! Some of these clothes are also designed to be worn during pregnancy, while others come into their own after your little one has arrived. Regardless, all nursing clothes should be comfortable and easy to wear. When it comes to dresses and tops, look for jersey fabric. This will stretch, so you won't need to fidget around with zips and buttons. It can also be worn through changing sizes, so your clothes will see you through the weight fluctuations that come before and after birth. You'll also need some good nursing bras. These are the foundation of your post-natal wardrobe!
The best breastfeeding clothes for work and play
Good nursing clothing will allow you to get out and about soon after your baby has been born. Look for dresses and tops with a wrap front. This is the easiest way to breastfeed discreetly in public; you'll also look smart, and this style is very flattering to your bust, which may have grown during pregnancy! If you find that your wrap does not have enough coverage, add a cami underneath. Some dresses and tops even come with a built-in cami made from the same fabric. If you're feeling a bit self-conscious after giving birth, consider an empire waist or fit and flare silhouette. This does not cling to your midsection, instead gently skimming over the area for a flattering look.
Comfy options to wear at home
Nursing clothing for the home should be stretchy and casual, allowing you to relax as much as you need to. Again, you may want to find wrap tops or, if it's warm, choose a top with thin straps that can easily be slipped out of the way. Make sure your nursing bra fits well; you will probably need to change from your normal size. You will also want to have separate styles of nursing bra. Some are appropriate for wearing under your daywear, allowing you to go out without any problems, while others are soft bra style, and should be worn at home. You'll probably want to wear a soft bra at all times. Even if you don't usually wear one at night, you will need to now, as leaking can be a problem. Find one that's comfortable enough to wear through the night, and add pads to keep clean if necessary.
